My world

Life from a different perspective

It wasn’t smart phone era yet in my world, infact I had not yet seen a digital camera. We used to do the sweet posing as the mobile camera man knocked our doors where we would quickly change in our Sunday best and pose our best.  From there we would wait for some days for the same person to come round distributing the photos  and most importantly not missing the ‘negative’ attached behind each photo incase one wanted some more copies.  If I had a camera enabled phone I would have done an archive for my younger ones to once in a while prove to them that I did it.

The current little girl by then.
The current little girl by then.

I was favored not only to be the first fruit of my mother’s womb but also the first cousin from my mother’s side. Apart from watching my siblings grow I still had a chance to watch some of my cousins grow before schooling introduced extra studies during holidays. Our last born happened to be  a little bit older than most of our cousins so by then my mum wasn’t so much in need of baby sitting. I remember how we would close schools and I would just be picked up the following day by my aunt to help give her firstborn company. Those days we used to have holiday duties, Wah…this might sound greek to my .com geeks. I remember I missed several since I never used to be  home during holidays. I vividly remember one punishment I  did for missing holiday duties which was to weed on 10 bushy coffee plants. Where is Nannis Nkatha my sweetest childhood friend?.., she helped me clear the bush in two days. We used to come with pangas very early in the morning before assembly and push abit, God bless you gal.

I thank God that he allowed me to go before you all for  atleast you’ve as well watched me grow.

Mwiri...In form one now. One of the brightest boy I know
Mwiri…In form one now. One of the brightest boy I know

Mwiri always know your mother who is my younger mother feels more than I do. Have watched you grow and I can assure you its only God who has brought you this far.  Have washed you, have fed you but I know your mum and our grandma did a millions times than I did. It just looks like the other day  when I would cook, serve you and sit down to feed you. I will never forget how you liked stories and hence I had to create some that would probably make you laugh and eat. We all knew  the stories you liked most. I also remember how you would vanish and I would go round the SQ’s asking incase someone saw you. Anyway you were a boy. I remember how you would force me fill the bath tab with water and unknowing hide  until the fateful day when you locked yourself in your mum’s room and lost the key. You started crying but I could not help beyond peeping through the window as we tried to find the key. I simply forgot how we got the key but I remember you  finally took you bath and I probably  pinched you. Sorry..

Have passed through where you are and as I always tell you Christ is the answer. Never forget to pray and work smart, Character is fading in our community but you can still make it Mwiri. Let respect for you parent remain a priority not forgeting Nana and Kabusi(Mutu) are looking up to you as their eldest brother. May God give you wisdom each day

Wah....
Wah….

Chri..(Christine) I can’t imagine you can now easily lift me up. Life is forever amazing and I as well realize years are faster than I  thought clocking. You are such a beautiful girl on earth since you were born. I did to you almost all that I did to Mwiri though you didn’t have the boyish character. The time I hated most while taking care of you was meal time. You would take like forever even to swallow a spoonful of mashed food. I used to have you on my back and walk around the plot for an hour or so trying to sooth you to eat. I thank God you are such a strong girl now.
