My mother is called Priscilla, that’s the special woman God used to have me on this side of planet. She is the inspiration that keeps me moving right, aimed at making her proud. You see, the world cannot understand the extents of struggles, hardwork and faith she had to have me this far. I can’t also speak of my achievement and miss to mention my dad. The man who taught me mathematics, the man who made me believe mathematics was the easiest subject, the man who never missed school parent meetings, the man who did all he could to have me educated, the man who took me to church and finally the man who inspired me to be an engineer. He must be a proud father. I remember in high school I kept off bad company just for my parents. I could not figure out a moment of shame before them at the imagination of every effort they had put in giving me a life they didn’t have. I surely must be sounding like parents pleaser but then that partly moulded me. You see today I have a salary mmmmmmmh(have to breathe hard), my parents didn’t have the privilege. They did all they could to have me here, and surely God blessed their work. I love their God, seeing where they are today.
“God, I know you know my desires and this what I pray daily, that you give my parents a long fruitful life. Am forever grateful that you’ve kept them for us and especially for me.” Okey, back to my mother. I have so much to say about this woman, her faith and the strong pillar she is in our family. For today I will just focus on one thing she has done for us. First, She gave birth to three of us and we’ve all been blessed to have her grand children. For her girls, anytime you are due to deliver, she leaves her home well planned and shifts to your house incase you are far to take care of you pre and post delivery. This means alot and alot to me and I would wish to carry it on to my children. Am not sure what marriage counsellors will call it but for me, what my mum did touched my heart deeply. You see during my sister’s time, my mum came to live with us for like a month, that is two weeks before the baby and some more two weeks after the baby. Mum helped us miles and miles, by then I could not get some leave days from my work but the mum took over. She lefts us healed and stable to carry on with baby. God bless you mum.
Years later I was in the same situation and again my mum came and lived with us for two weeks pre delivery and one week after delivery. I remember the day she was leaving and I had to take her to the bus station, I could not help but cry in confusion, I wanted her for more days but then she had a family to run too. Taking it back to the day we both took my sister to maternity, I remember that night I was tired and surely sleepy, we had spent the entire night in the corridors on Kenyatta Hospital and so I needed to rest. But then my mother could not let me, we knelt the better part of the night interceding for my sister and the baby and for sure God answered us. I could not figure out why spend hours to pray yet she was safe in hospital for what we term as “normal nature” but then unlike me mum knew. But now I know, yes I know that was necessary. In my time since I was way past due, we left her in the house and I could imagine all she was left to do even in that moment full of tension.
I miss the days we could sing together in church, the days you were our brigade officer. God bless you mum and I love you. As my parents, you believed in me even to be a blessing to you. There is one thing I did for you and that the greatest achievements that has given me the greatest satisfaction in this world.
To all mums, keep up the good job.
